Ok Today’s order

  1. Number 2 meal with  Dr Pepper  ( they forgot the burrito that makes up the meal, gave me diet cola)
  2. Number 3 meal with  Mountain dew ( forgot the mountain dew
  3. empanada ( Yes they got it right)
  4. 1/2lb beef and potato burrito  ( no way was this 1/2 1lb it had the same filling that the soft taco has)

So had to go back into store and wait.  Get the order, get in the car and drink  the wrong drink..  Four items  , four mistakes FOUR christ’s sake  people  it’s food you make by looking at pictures. There are  buttons on the register for each meal, the order appears on a screen    it’s match the shapes. MATCH THE FUCKING SHAPES

Then I spent longer than one should on a weekend looking at things related to work  and Erin’s ill: (   I mean there was a reason why I was at a fast food place..

How to review a car.. Something I Do miss from the UK honest reviews.

Times Online Driving – reviews and comment from Jeremy Clarkson

With the increase in prosumer or dilettante ( used in a non pejorative sense)  media reviews are getting far better in America.  When I first arrived here I bought several motorcycle magazines and it appeared that not one bike sucked.  Thankfully my problem now with purchasing anything of value is the depth of material one can wade through. An excellent site such as dpreview.com was the reason I settled on my last camera . For video cameras i suggest Camcorder info and you will find the same level of detail closely tied to reviews from actual owners.  Consumer reports isn’t dead yet though it’s audience  isn’t that far off;)  Home medical devices are soon to be it’s forte

Watching food is now bad for your health. Fuck you very much the FCC

BBC NEWS | Health | Call for tougher junk food ad ban

While I would claim to be thoroughly disgusted with President Bush signing into law the ability for the FCC to levy massive fines for indecency against broadcasters on the grounds that seeing or hearing bodilly or excretory functions is more damaging than the mutilated remains of our enemies plastered over the news at all hours to children. To me the FCC should not exist in this role it seems to contradict amendment one and the “shall make no law” part that they’d like immigrants to be able to recall yet not think too hard about. Thinking about it is indecent , I mean, can you really think about complaint mills such as the Parent’s television council members sending in 4000 complaints without ever seeing the offending item, essentially lying for their “greater good” without going “what the fuck”
Egregious as this is it’s small deep fried potatos in a partially hydrogenated  fat laden salty dish compared to the social engineering the nanny state that is the United Kingdom is up to. Advertising foods that may not be healthful when used daily is the reason that children are obese. Ok, these kids seemingly don’t have parents,

It claims more than two-thirds of parents would support such a move.”

Oh sorry they do have parents. I am puzzled. Back to my childhood.   I couldn’t buy much of  anything without my parents consent. I had no salary, transport  or ways in which to store my hoard of illicit calories.   Having a child has taught me one thing. That all the people that have used ” it’s different  when you have kids you won’t feel the same way “  as an evasion to promote their own socialist utopian fantasies were wrong, probably  evil and exactly the kind of people that Dobhran should avoid.

Dan Carlin’s podcast  often comments on “the fat police“  and the infantilizing of America by the people that just won’t leave us alone.  Once they pay for my health care they can have a legitimate concern on my actions until then..  EAT ME ..

I didn’t even get started on how the joke that is the 4th amendment was further shat upon by SCOTUS today which once more argued that JBT  safety overrides any protections to those without the privilige of belonging to the badged classes.

Yes it’s too adorable for the blog. Ok this is a rare week I actually get a day off, with Erin.  So let’s run through that.  Morning, purchase a lotus seven partially built, have it towed home find a way to get it into garage.  Afternoon move the pc section to the other side of room, build spare pc,  set up.    Then off to the libertarian atheist group to pick on those that have a supernatural friend and the balls to suggest that they with their rational god loving mind know what’s best for society.  Then go see Cars.

Tomorrow there may be loads of pics of  2 of these.  Fun debate/ argument at work today  which I was  just a passer by in. The usual you should care about other people and make the world a happier place  in short Bill and Tedism.. “be excellent to each other”  which sadly only works in movies were Death is on your side:)   What’s interesting is that it all depends on how you define society. The warm fuzzy side of the debate extends it to a universal kinship with mankind.  Rather a shame to bring up the  jihadist as a rather large  boil in the butt that can  not be engaged with a do unto others attitude when there wants are very much believe or die.  The other problem is  we’re not in Africa for them to try an claim that society is inclusive to the degree  where my responsibility  extends to states other than which I exist. No thank you.

Here’s a shock to many …  Poverty is the default condition of mankind.  It’s not created by wealth generation other than as a contrast yet somehow invention in the “west” in the minds of many of my fellow coworker types obligates us to ensure that it’s used fairly by other countries. How do we decide what’s the right way?  Oh yeah we vote..  I left prior to starting out on the path of infinite regression.

least nobody  brought up roads.

Dumb things heard today

“At least I vote though I don’t have the time to keep up”  Ah yes proud ignorance from those that have decided their decisions to inflict force on their fellow man and yet more proof why democracy doesn’t work I’m tired of people pointing out the flaws in libertarian thinking which are based on edge cases that, although are quite inventive ,are pretty damn unlikely yet they will swallow the BS that 51% Men voting on 49% of women as being property  is somehow  the most outlandish and idiot idea

I’ve had.. er   come on  2 wolves and 1 sheep voting on dinner can’t we just acknowledge that  numerical supremacy as a means of defining “right” is utter bullshit on anything other than the level that “we can kick your ass”.
Most of the other items included the idea that communication can only be made effective by setting up an infinite regression.

DID YOU

DID YOU GET … THAT   THING! THAT THING I SENT YOU

Well seemingly to find out if people go that thing, we should phone, walk by or maybe we could mail?

This worked so well … UK style Indian food at home.

Damn this worked out so well.

The Curry Secret: Indian Restaurant Cookery at Home (Right Way S.)

Yes it took me a day to make, a lot of onions, blending, separating and the like but curry #1 to roll out of this book was damn good. It’s so good that we need uglier wallpaper and some lager on tap. Despite the attempts to thwart me by tossing out, or hiding my spices really really I succeded in feeding Erin into a state of happiness. I know the answer to the question ” who needs to buy a 10lbs bag of onions? ”

Onwards and upwards . As a side note for self preparedness I’ve been storing Trader Joes foil packed indian meals , these things are pretty cheap and have a 2-3 year shelf life. I.e you can have 2 months of meals set back for under $120 including the rice. Variety is an issue but in relation to being dependent on the clowns that served and protected so well in Nola I can stand a few repeats.

I went ahead, and made my day.

I must be more readily affected by the media than I’d publically admit to ( Blog’s aren’t public since no one reads em;) Two weeks after watching “the Prisoner” series we’re still looking into building/ acquiring a lotus seven based car. We’ve also been watching Sledgehammer which led to a range trip and a 44 ( kinda wished I hadn’t sold mine) It’s kinda funny to switch from a 442 snub to a 6″ 629 I’m sure my little one has barrel envy but it seemed to amuse one or two of the people that saw them basking together.
I’ve not been shooting as much as I would like these last months then again

I’ve not been attacked by any static paper either so it’s so far a wash;) though that’s a lame joke as Mr Lee said “boards don’t hit back”

What am I carrying these days? The aforementioned 442 which is a lightweight J frame Smith and Wesson in .38. Why? Well these are to me nicely subjective reasons and when talking about guns for personal use isn’t it better to keep it personal? I don’t have to outfit a department of JBT’s with an acceptable compromise of size, weight, recoil or be concerned with the economics of doing so. One also has to take into account the climate, local regulations, the kind of work you do, and your daily routine to come up with many suitable solutions.
This all seems obvious to most of you but shockingly enough I have friends that don’t possess any means to defend themselves other than harsh language and a cell phone. Hence the 442 is a compromise. 5 shots rather than 6 or 7 (there’s no reason why a revolver needs to have six shots) which makes the gun narrower , hence more concealable. 38 rather than 357 I have a Ruger SP101 snub in 357 but it’s far heavier, recoil is robust and takes longer to get back on target but damn it’s fun :) Fun <> usefulness in many cases but having managed to tame that beast I feel it’s made my shooting more accurate as a result but I would hazard that a 357 snub for your first defensive gun is a bad idea, a really bad idea.
The 442 Airweight (An aluminium and steel mix) has a concealed hammer which makes it far easier to pull from a pocket since there’s no hammer to snag on clothing and which ( I still prefer holsters) makes it far harder for anyone, or thing, to interfere with the action. For liability reasons there’s no hammer to cock so in the rare event it’s legally used it’s one less thing for the prosecution to focus on.

I hate that in any cop show or movie when someone yanks the hammer back to emphasis just how serious they are , the gun now has a 2-3 lbs trigger pull which is nothing , sneeze, hiccup, cough and there’s a good chance you’re going to pull a Pulp Fiction and be in need of “the Wolf” Most of us don’t know a wolf.

At present I think my daily exposure to risk and the canon of material available re self defensive use of firearms ,balances out nicely ( Ie most uses are over in < 3 rounds with an even higher percentage stopping after “people” see a gun and decide your watch , ipod or ass are really worth less than their worthless life.)

I’m pretty much of the inclination that if I “need” to stick on a 45,spare mags, and shove a rifle in the trunk (just in case) then it’s doubtful I’ll go there. ( Only one such case has arisen ) Yes there’s a huge range of situation where this is not the best thing to have to hand but for what I perceive the relative risk to be presently it’s better than praying.

CNN.com – 2 found dead inside deflated balloon – Jun 4, 2006

If you fill a balloon with helium where does the oxygen go?  Seemingly that’s something that high school failed to address.
This falls into the Simpson’s category  “It’s funny because it’s not me” . We can put a check on the irony category too.  An advertising major killed by advertising. They wanted to get into advertising but the advertising got into them after they had gotten into it.
Either that or had they listened to Bill Hicks and decided to take the honorable way out?

Bush calls for gay marriage ban ( and this is news ?)

BBC NEWS | Americas | Bush calls for gay marriage ban

Mr Bush used his weekly radio address to deliver a plea for the US Senate to formally define marriage as the union of man and woman.

If this isn’t as transparent an attempt at “making shit up as a distraction” to misdirect those pissed at the immigration amnesty , that’s not an amnesty but rather looks like “hispandering” and the lack of fiscal responsibility excercised by the President into turning up to vote against what the “gawd” of their bible has a hardon for. ( there are reasons to be annoyed by any group that defines themselves by the orifices they fill but mainly I see this as a reaction against the first group of idiots. )
Looks like Bush is married to idiocy till death do him part.

For a more erudite take on this head over to NZ and the institute for liberal values ( do I need to tell you that the word isn’t being used in the American sense? )

CNN.com – FDA: Restaurants on front lines in obesity fight – Jun 2, 2006

“We must take a serious look at the impact these foods are having on our waistlines,” said Penelope Slade Royall, director of the health promotion office at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Dear Penelope,

Until you pay for my healthcare you can take a flying fuck at a rolling powdered doughnut.  If I want food advice I’ll stick with Mario Batali thank you very much. Hey  how about -you-  going on a diet?  Maybe cut back on that fattening tax  diet that nourishes your desire to mould society into  a deathless paradise of civic service and  everyone living for each other?   Maybe you need to investigate the root cause of obesity neing  people  unable to act in their own best interests because there’s always  another clone of you  with a program to “help”  them since to be frank(zappa) ,  “we the people” ain’t too bright.  Learned helplessness , supersized welfare   coincidence?
Regards

Musings of The GeekWithA.45

As I sit here “earning”  my  money , well my job’s related to this space so it’s kinda hard to work out were work / play intersects,   please muse on the pitiful lump that’s the subject of this heart warming tale of a dictator  that subsidises part of their winter heating bill by providing cheap oil to the American poor then invites the poor to tour his “paradise”. Sadly the people concerned didn’t stay there.
Tocrystalise this let’s wander to the blog I originally found the link to the story on

“The kicker? While the discounted Chavez oil paid for 40% of this woman’s bill, the U.S. Government (yes, the one with the President she’d like to replace with Chavez) covered the other 60%. And yet I don’t remember her coming to thank me for my tax dollars. All that stuff is free! Milk of human kindness! Nobody pays for it, right?!

There’s no excuse for this kind of idiocy.”

There may not be an excuse, there are reasons though:)

Wowie…

Somedays  I wished I had listened to what my mother said. I’m sure it was the vital  missing link  that would enable me to file my day into something outwith direct intervention by Eris in an attempt to keep me amused.  None of this I can talk about:)  There’s double triple  quintuple secret probation in effect.
So instead I left with a headache which I am attempting to soothe by building another pc and attempting to work out where my facility for understanding systems took a U turn into the Dilbert zone.  Oh wait it was the birth of Dobhran. I’m hoping he grows up  to be able to help me with my homework:)

In material goods.. I would , ok WE would love one of these

Frankly all the people buying modern sports cars, mainly those being marketed atavistic bodykits on today’s engines, are deluding themselves into what fast is ..

Murder is just a matter of HR oversight.
