Ah Dobhie is having a rough time, Mommy is having a rough time and daddy is making for that direction:) Today Dobh was the victim of toddler on toddler violence when some little miscreant decided that he wanted a toy and that violence was the answer ( sounds like a budding politician)
One round, lasted under 5 seconds , during which time he held his ground, until they pulled off the 18 month old future prison officer. Poor thing has some bruising but is otherwise ok. I thought we’d have a little longer before having to deal with this but damn it he was really cute and nearly blemish free this AM in the Hawaiin get up and spiky doo. Hopefully isolated since at one stage he’s going to be attacked and will prevail.. something that’s scarier to many adults than that of the bully, they get the bully , they love the bully… they don’t like those that fight back..

FamilyDigest.com – Your Baby is Vomiting
Amazingly it took a turn for the worse.. So far been really lucky in 14 months he’s barely sniffled, just one ER trip ( new parents etc) but tonight he’s catching up small illness on Sunday that looked like a one off now.. now he’s Linda Blair.
so it’s day 2-3 all other signs look good but will see if I have to take him to dr in the am.

weekend hell update. Bought a shuttle case this weekend. I’ve had no luck with pc’s in the last year . Prior to that everything I built loaded and installed worked, stayed working. XP is completely annoying. Oddly enough once we got over 2.4ghz the matching of “standard” cpu, board and memory to something that actually works turned into a crap shoot ( or maybe I shoot shoot myself for the crap motherboards, I’m probalby not blameless there. ) Anyway Fry’s had a 200gb drive sata 150 for $75 it had to follow me home. I’ve downloaded XP x 3 , burnt it times 6 verified the damn things checksum so it looks like the cd rom has finally died, the most unreliable frigging component on the machine. My theory is that with the POS floppy now out of favour there had to be a component that required a service call.
Another theory is that you no longer get what you pay for. My old drives, 1x 2x 4x 8x never died during the life of the machines after a certain point Memorex, iomega, sony, panasonic were no longer worth shelling out extra for since the cheap ass oem brown box specials fail in about the same time but their saving grace is the renewal cost.
And now for the other pool. The money pit, the festering lagoon had the filter disassembled ( smell was not the most amusing) grids removed, cleaned, dried, cleaned and then reassembled ( partially I can’t find any O-ring grease in the house)
One of the ways I try to make myself less useless ( perception thing that I could easily remedy by talking to people like the one at Lowe’s today . This woman insists people with a scanner can read the mag strips on the back of cards while they are in your pocket. ) is to fix items that would result in a call to some flake appearing , in the most Zappaesque manner , and charging us lots of money to leave us marginally better off. Hence the up to the elbows in sludge rather than enjoying my kids 1st attempt at buildng the leaning tower of pooza.

Dulce Et Decorum Est
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
Obviously Fox news didn’t get that 90 year old memo. Seemingly true freedom comes from being enslaved by the state as a hired killer.
The contrarian weekend was started with a muted event on Erin’s family side. Muted since I was on my best behaviour. I didn’t go off on the religious one within three sentences, nor on the teacher ( state naturually ) and I since I can’t discuss work at present in public or discuss American Idol or tv in general and don’t follow sports it was easier to remain quiet or just tell people how great our son is. The latter point is rather easy since he’s more adorable than a trunk full of chipmunks. I think this is why people have children there’s certainly an illusion of .
Mario Sunshine has been taking up too much time, I “should” be programming, configuring or likewise advancing the cause of the Otterman Empire but my general disatisfaction at the amount of crap in the world makes me reluctant to become a gateway to such a thing.
WW O D what would otter do?
Well I think nap, swim and beat the brains our of crustaceans .. Rockfish anyone:)

Last night was just great. The fully socialized medicine experience ride is now running at Banner Thunderbird hospital in Glendale, AZ. Ticket price? Our employers monthly fee and a $50 ER payment to sit for 7 and a half hours prior to being seen. These wait times are in excess of anywhere I lived in the UK and it was “FREE” over there. Anyway I had to miss a day from work re an inability to stay alert / attempt to look after kid . Erin sadly was ill and now has a new diagnosis which has pretty wide ranging implications for her diet , and by extension, mine.
Still not written up Tam4, but have been watching the DVD’s from Tam3 which keeps the mind ticking over, that is , until I try to explain it. What I do need, and I think this would be a really kick ass projects for the LDS to get involved with since they are into databases in a big way is a register of belief accompanied by a definition. Given that the 1st 2-3 hours of any inquiry into an alledged creator of the ‘verse is trying to have the other party define what their god is, what it can do and what would lead them to that conclusion. Usually they are left forming it on the spot. It would save much wailing and gnashing of teeth if a registry existed where I could obtain this info without going through the pain of several hours to realise that they don’t have a clue on what some consider a fairly important question.
So to kick it off
Haltse : To my experience there is no personifiable deity that created the universe. This negates sin, heaven and hell, brayer ( not a typo see the boomer bible for more) and no I have not been touched by a noodly appendage.

Wanna Biccy!
Tonight we found out our son is now into sustained laughter with the correct input. The correct input is sneezing, or pretending to do so, it’s joy , rapture and it looks like some people at a rave though E’s only naturally high. Was so cute I rescued the portable rig from the car ( yep I’m one of the best equipped non active podcasters) and managed to get about 90 seconds of this, I also received my production sampler last week…can we guess where this is going? Moment that I had finished recording, playback, battery dies thus denying my parents the amusement of their grandson oorgling his way through twinkle twinkle little star. We’re so close to the first words now that I know he’s planning on doing it after the last AA battery has dies in the house.
Erin’s added more to the house, media units and shelving and returned from Ikea ( impromptu trip, she went to a store, not the range , weird ) with even more additions it’s amazing what she can get done and humbling given my inertia after I leave work.

You know I’ve been talking to many people at work re the adorable nature and all round functional cuteness of our son yet none of that gets to the blog. That’s going to change , more pictures and audio will follow. Since the kid is one of my better achievements ( odd that given the time our society requires that we spend away from them for basics .. btw broadband is a basic:D )
oorgle!
