If you have to capture concerts please buy a damn mic, recorder ANYTHING other than your stupid phone.

This is to the tech crowd, the geeks e.g the people that should know better.

Nearly
everything I’m seeing from the Pax08 concert has such poor sound /
video that it’s a complete waste of time and energy yet this crap is
getting 4 and 5 stars. Here’s where it bugs me. The crappy sound
and video in a sane world would be “mediated” by the crowd and given
an appropriate rating but it seems that it’s totally broken in the
cases of geek centric clips. Self recognition doesn’t = ****/*****
stars dumb ******/*******

You are today’s equivalent of the
idiots in sports stadiums with their GN14 flashes trying to reach out
all the way to center field. Either drop the money on a reasonable
recorder or just leave it in your pocket.

Thankfully others suffered this so I didn’t need to. Way back when he first announced I read his platform ,seriously. Then wrote a letter. I got back an invitation to send money and NO response to my inquiry. I left a socialist state to come to a socialist state with nicer teeth :)

Government cannot solve all our problems. Just the ones involving energy, education, work, the weather, cities, the countryside, sick children, sick mothers, joblessness, hopelessness, and frightening foreigners who do not live in Iraq. Now if you’ll all look under your seats, every one of you is going home with a new car!

Taking your four year old to a purity ball? Why bother you’re more fucked up then Freud at this stage

Daddy you can let go now…..

At a recent Father-Daughter Purity Ball, the girls ranged from college
age to a tiny 4-year-old dressed in purple who climbed into her
father’s arms to be carried

I wonder if they take a toddler to AA too? These people , these people that define innocence yet take their fucking 4 year old ( is there irony in there folks? ) to events like this. I am nowhere near taking Dobh, or myself , to a fetish ball in the near future but maybe I need to take a play from my ‘moral superiors’.

I can only hope that they are trying to create a super sexually fucked up batch of women to compete with the Catholic education / Baptist pastor’s daughter that have been highly reviewed by some of my friends.

Everyone’s a Wall-e: In the UK wally means idiot:D

I can see a JoCo song  / mashup for this little guy.   But I digress.

It’s really going to be the future soon.  Wall-E  is one future but let’s me just say that  I have nothing to add to the   97% rating that he’s enjoying over there on Rotten Tomatoes.

Why this movie works for me.

Wall-E has more character than the prior Pixar incarnations because you come to him pure, he doesn’t need to fit into car shape, rat shape, fish shape or any of the pre existing personalities from the toy box. 700 years of exposure to our ephemera and the worst that happen to him is show tunes. ( maybe the right wing folks had a point;) )   Wall-e  being seen as  antithetic  to the humans that made him is a point made in many  reviews  has been annoying me.

I  have to be simplistic here and claim that the  US division of thought  falls into right /left wing ideologies ( basically the same fundamental idiocy that reaches divergent conclusions on how it’s best to steal from others for their own benefit, a setup you may  know  better as democracy.)

This movie has been seen as  a massively pro environment/ anti capitalist movie  by both ends of the moebius strip  so I find myself on familiar ground  in the contrarian position that both sides are wrong.

So in my usual  Socratic ( that means avoiding having to actually solve shit;) )  manner  I have some questions and observations about both side.

1) How is this movie anti capitalist?  The  monopoly position is not practically achievable in capitalism without the intervention of the state and BnL didn’t get that way without help.

2)  How is Wall-e not a reflection on those that created him, how can we be the bad guys in this piece?   Humans  made it to  space,  they made a fricking society that looks pretty close to socialism ( cradle to grave all needs met)  and it pretty much looked like what the  left has wanted to sell us for decades.  They also tried to solve the problem.

3) The bit I really don’t like.   Farming. We get to the stars  I  and the idea that  we circumvent millennia of improvements to go back to  nature. As if to think that  farming is a default human condition.

I was brought up on a farm have a non romantic view of animals(  unlike the Welsh) and have managed to escape the daily need to hunt food, shelter and the myriad other niceties of living pre dentistry , pre anesthesia  and pre Tetris.  The environment, would it help to call it location? in Wall-e is a background and necessary for his existence, character development.  Basically the framework isn’t built to hang your ideas of the world on and  both sides do this movie a disservice by trying.

To end on a rant.

People that find this liberal really need to get a dictionary and perspective. The root of conservative means what again? It’s more than a greeny trope and can just as easily be seen as an indictment on a socialized system that keeps people stupid , fat and reliant on the state ( corp) from cradle to grave. Seriously politics are what’s stopping most of you from enjoying one of the more touching love stories/ characters in the last few years.

Why bother saving our place on this planet if this is the kind of thought that we’re preserving?

Nearly everything I found objectionable in the “atheist” movement has a store

I used to shop here, used to. Sadly I can’t take em seriously anymore. The same bullshit I saw with local atheist groups, e.g Bush’s god =bad, Kerry’s , Gore, Edwards and now Obama’s is fine. Suggests that there’s a lack of ethical rigor from a store that seems to be in favour of principle over profit. That Obama has a peace symbol sticker for the O in the name is hilarity itself that an overt theist is a poster child for the reality based community is desperatly sad. Crazy.. is crazy.

More on the incident I posted about last week with relation to the  need our , come on let’s keep the fiction going,  employees castigating  their bosses for a lack of moral fibre.  At the time I didn’t want to confuse the issue, which was mainly the reporting , by adding in more things people don’t want to hear.

Well  now’s the time:)

"We no longer have a moral compass," said the guy who devotes a good portion of his day to stealing other peoples’ property ("Year to date we have seized close to 180 guns," Daryl brags on his blog, "last year we seized 400. In one day alone Vice and Narcotics detectives conducted seven hot spot details, resulting in 42 arrests, seizure of two firearms, three vehicles, ten grams of crack, 1,300 bags of Heroin, and 12 grams of cocaine"). "Anything goes," despaired this "chief among plunderers."

Tyranny of the atheist minority

Imagine that – only 1.6 percent atheists, yet their beliefs are becoming the law of the land. A minority forcing its will on the majority – isn’t this the classic definition of tyranny?

Well apart from obvious that all the believers aren’t believing in the same god it makes for oh say interesting discussion to claim that since under 1% of people are of the Hindu faith , the other 99% are not, in fact they could be atheists in relation to the Hindu pantheon. So any faith that doesn’t have numerical supremacy loses .You just have to love large democracies.

I despair at this “we’re under attack” mentality. USA has the highest adherence amongst the developed world yet. So is he saying that 1.5% of non believers are more capable of getting shit down and modifying society to their will than the faithful? Maybe less time spent listening to how flawed and evil we are allows for some practical improvements to be made?

I’m tired of the atavistic call to all the founders, or most of them or just the ones we really like in the US pantheon are god happy ergo country = god happy and a Christian nation. They were also male so can I apply the same principle here to who gets to say what happens?

He also uses a loose definition of tyranny which can be, in this last century at least, the masses going along with the plan. Lastly I could give a flying spaghetti monster about your inner mental life till it affects mine. I can’t get my head around how we’d know if your praying without such a public display being required so this stopping you thinking is not something you can lay at the feet of the non theist.

You stopped thinking by yourself when you adopted a millienia old creed that is as relevant to life in the 21st C as Paris Hilton is to string theory.

Tired of reading reviews from shows I’ve attended were someone has to tie their happiness to the reaction, in most cases ,or non reaction of the audience. Shit! I’m sorry I didn’t know I had to learn all the fucking words to each song, find out there’s a secret dance and possibly even a handshake to go along with the ticket

Had enough of this bs at various Rocky Horror shows ( both UK and USA) from people that loved the show ..but.. kvetched about enough of the audience where either dressed up, calling back or a myriad other things that separate you from being a “true fan.

Hey if you want us to amuse you pay us:) I’m not stopping you dancing, singing, dressing up or twittering away and until now not bitching about. Whiny blog post over.

A polar bear eats fish and people are surprised?   Dummkopfs!

Now if the polar bear   braided the hair of a little girl,Changed from Coke to Pepsi or  migrated to the woods and then used a porta potty that may be news.  Otherwise I think there’s a few more items that should be placed in that enclosure for the bear to play with:D

The Frankfurter Allgemeine news website reports that Knut “senselessly murdered the carp”, fishing them out, playing with them and then leaving the remains.

Week 2 :  Dobhie daycare dilemma ( not going into it but it wasn’t much fun)

Week 3:  Father in  hospital after ambulance took him into hospital ( I’m ooo   thousands of miles away and the passport has expired.  To call the passport line here it’s $3 a fucking  minute.   Thanks  guys  I’m sure the taxes I paid back home could have covered that shit. Fuck you had $170  a year for me for a license to watch television.  As you can see not having a fun time.     It gets worse  major threat to  financial stability has appeared on the horizon and this time  it’s compounded by one of the best taoist examples of  being unable to tell what’s good and bad when you are close to the event   yet in hindsight..

Try this on.

This may be illustrated by the Taoist story of a farmer whose horse ran away. That evening the neighbors gathered to commiserate with him since this was such bad luck. He said, “May be.” The next day the horse returned, but brought with it six wild horses, and the neighbors came exclaiming at his good fortune. He said, “May be.” And then, the following day, his son tried to saddle and ride one of the wild horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. Again the neighbors came to offer their sympathy for the misfortune. He said, “May be.” The day after that, conscription officers came to the village to seize young men for the army, but because of the broken leg the farmer’s son was rejected. When the neighbors came in to say how fortunately everything had turned out, he said, “May be.”

I’ve just been lucky enough to have been given such a horse.

May be….

There’s 182 thousand cheap people out there that need their head examined. Seemingly the point that most people miss here, and one which I will make sure you do not miss is this!    It’s not the state that makes you safe, in fact they abrogated that responsibility to the people that you want them to protect you from.   So we pay more money  to protect ourselves  to the people that say, nah we trust you . go on knock yourself, and your customers out.  Maybe without so much “regulation” there would be enough money to make cars that work  right the first time:)

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — General Motors said it will recall 181,516 Chevrolet HHR wagons Wednesday after finding that some of the vehicles don’t meet government standards for protecting occupants from head injury in a crash.

Chevy HHRs not equipped with optional roof rail-mounted airbags and sold between 2006 and 2008 failed GM’s side-impact tests, said GM. Roof rail-mounted airbags are designed to reduce the risk of head injury in the event of a side-impact collision.

Maybe 2 people will get the Young One’s reference above, that’s 2 more than usual:)

Ah today is a rare sick day.   My throat is scratchier than a $5  microphone and  I’m as congested as a Tokyo commuter train.  That being said there are positive benefits.

KLF being one of them.  Maybe it’s worrying that  I consider people that burned  a million pounds , not dollars,”real”  money  back in the day to be less of a problem than the near 2 million they paid in taxes.

I really need a course in miracles.

It’s a miracle that anybody that brings up “the secret”  is allowed  to escape the law of attraction of my sarcasm to their naivete .  Oops I know I just upset a couple of people I know but consider this an intervention.

“Imperfect thoughts are the cause of all humanity’s ills, including disease, poverty, and unhappiness.” Yes, according to The Secret, people don’t just randomly end up being massacred, for example. They are in the wrong place because of their own lousy thinking. Cancer patients have long been victims of this school of belief. But The Secret takes it to a new and more repulsive level with its advice not just to blame people for their illness, but to shun them, lest you start being infected by their bummer thoughts, too.

Which in my case means  trying to reason people out of their insanity   and if they persist no longer interacting with them  whenever avoidable ( e.g  anywhere outside the workplace)    If the secret works  wouldn’t my desire for them to STFU  have some effect?

Blues Brothers

Not just a movie but a way of life. . Yep  I sold a revolver to buy  a microphone ..  Technically it’s a shotgun mic  but  at 5oz  it’s going to be hard to incur any damage that wouldn’t make me eligible for the sex offenders list.

AZ Democrats are so concerned about my money that they’ll waste mine to tell me about it.

It’s a shame that the do not call list isn’t applicable at a state level.  It’s a shame that politicians and those acting on behalf of this  group of looters in suits are exempt anyway.

To reiterate  I am not a democrat, a republican nor libertarian  any more so this isn’t partisan.

Today the AZ Democrats decided that their propaganda  outweighs my financial interest in not hearing from them. In short they behave like they know what’s best for you and you can  damn well pay for it.   Which is kinda neat given the subject matter.

I pay for my voip system per minute , ergo sending me a message  that I have to pay to retrieve is incurring a loss. Yes it’s a small loss but in the context of these economically illiterate assholes ( that would be the democrats)   telling me how much they care about the  little guy  is the last straw. ( you know the camel? he says hi how’s the wife and kids?)   Oh god yes won’t someone PLEASE think of the children?

They decided to call our phone to let us know that Mr Shaddeg is a mean wittle man and that I need to  lock up my kid’s candy jar asap.

“Not only has John Shadegg voted again and again to deny health care to
needy children, now he’s opposed to giving families a tax rebate to
jump start the economy,” Bittner said. “He’s completely blind to the
needs of Arizonans, and this country.”

OMG there’s 35 republicans with brains  ? Damn that’s shocking.   Frankly it doesn’t matter we’re scroomed ( screwed and doomed) either way.   Keep it up folks   Gold at 1000 soon:D

Ok on the face of it I am totally fucking spitting at this.

I earn more than 75k, have my  tax bill  in front of me for the year.  Seemingly rebates are not for me, I’m not middle class , I’m rich..   Er bull fucking shit.   My real income is  well  under 75k by the time It’s taxed  Federally, locally, state, on my phone, my gas my .well you know the list.  The only nice thing is that I hope these policies fail so  miserably that my counter measures to the $ going foom are increased  many fold .

Taxpayers would get checks under economic stimulus plan – CNN.com

Those who earn up to $75,000 individually or up to $150,000 as a couple will be eligible for the payments, said Republican and Democratic sources familiar with the tentative deal.
